Privacy policy: what happens to what you send us

What the enquiry form collects, why each field is there, who your details may be passed to, how long records are kept, and how to have your information removed.

Most privacy pages are written to be skimmed past. This one is short enough to read, because the answer is not complicated: a plastering enquiry needs a name, a way to ring you back, a suburb and a photograph, and very little else is collected.

It is written in plain Australian English against the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988. It describes how the business handles information; it is not legal advice, and it does not change anything agreed in a written quote.

  • Not sold, ever
  • Used to quote and to do the work
  • Removal on request

What this page is

This is a plain-language description of how All Walls & Ceilings Plastering handles personal information when somebody enquires, gets a quote or has work carried out. It describes practice rather than giving legal advice, and it does not replace anything set out in a written quote.

All Walls & Ceilings Plastering is operated by MI BUILDING SOLUTIONS PTY LTD (ABN 61 668 551 899), which is the entity responsible for the handling described here.

The framework behind it is the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988. Where this page and that Act differ, the Act applies.

What the enquiry form collects

The Get a Quote panel asks for a name, a phone number, an email address, a suburb, the kind of work you think you need (the list follows the services index) and an optional description. That is the whole form. There is no account to create and no payment step here.

Each field earns its place. The name and phone number are how we reply. The email is the fallback if a call does not connect. The suburb says whether the job is inside the area we cover, and the work type and description let us give a useful first answer.

Photographs, calls and messages

Most enquiries arrive with a photograph of a wall or a ceiling. It is used to assess the job, prepare a quote and, if the work goes ahead, carry it out. The same goes for what is discussed by phone or text about a job.

If a photograph includes something you would rather we did not keep, say so and it is deleted from the enquiry. Customer photographs are not published here unless you are asked and you agree, and none of the pictures on the our work page is identified as anybody's home.

Why it is collected

To answer the enquiry, quote the work, schedule and carry it out, invoice it, and keep the records a business has to keep. Details given for a quote are not added to a marketing list.

Who it may be shared with

Only where sharing is part of doing the job you asked for. In practice:

  • A tradesperson on your job who needs your address or phone number to attend.
  • An insurer or loss assessor, where the work is part of a claim and you have asked for the scope or quote to go to them.
  • A strata manager, building manager or agent arranging or approving the work.
  • A builder or head contractor running the larger job the plastering sits inside.
  • An accountant or bookkeeper handling the business records, or a government body where the law requires it.

Information is not sold, rented, traded or passed to a marketing company, an aggregator or a lead generation service, and it is not sent overseas for those purposes.

How long records are kept

Quotes, invoices and job records are kept as long as the law requires business and tax records to be kept, and as long as they may be needed if a question comes up later about the work. Enquiries that never become a job are kept for a shorter period and then removed.

Cookies and website measurement

This site may use cookies and basic analytics to count visits and see which pages get read. That kind of measurement deals in patterns rather than people: pages viewed, approximate region, browser and device type, and how a visitor arrived. It is not matched to your enquiry.

Every current browser lets you block or delete cookies. Doing so will not stop you using this site or sending an enquiry.

Third-party services on the site

Like most websites, this one may load services run by other companies: web fonts, a map, an embedded video, form handling or the analytics above. When your browser loads one, that provider receives the technical information any web request carries, including your IP address, under its own privacy terms.

Keeping information secure

Enquiry details, photographs and job records sit on password-protected devices and accounts, seen only by the people who need them for the work. No business can promise nothing will ever go wrong, and this page does not. What it commits to is collecting no more than the job needs.

A copy, a correction or a deletion

You can ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Requests are made by phoning the number in the header and footer of every page. There is no published email address, so the phone is the correct and only channel.

You will be asked a question or two so we know we are speaking to the right person. Tax and invoicing records have to be kept for a set period, and where that applies it gets explained rather than the request simply being refused.

If you are not satisfied

Raise it on the phone first, because most privacy questions turn out to be a misunderstanding about what was collected or why. If that does not settle it, a complaint can go to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, which oversees the Privacy Act 1988.

How to make a privacy request

Ring the number in the header or footer of any page and say what you want: a copy of what is held, a correction, or deletion. There is no published email address, so the phone is the channel that gets an answer.

If the question is about a quote rather than privacy, the contact page is the better start, and the conditions that apply to quoted work are in the terms.

Still have a question

Ask before you send anything you are unsure about

If you would rather check what happens to a photograph or a phone number before sending it, ring and ask. It is a short conversation and nobody gets talked into a quote by having it.
